At Birch Hill High School, teachers
combine traditional learning techniques with an emphasis on emotional
intelligence, hands-on and creative learning, business training, and personal
quality building, like self-discipline and persistence.
You are now in a place where teachers answer only to their own instincts, and no one stifles their ideas. In this beautiful place, students become adults who can both love and work. This week, The Birch Hill High Annual Art Fair is coming up. You must give the students a theme in which to center their art around. Your job is to teach them both how to be creative and practical, how to make lovely art and how to get publicity for the event. You must also prepare a lesson plan to teach them how to make money, advertise and bring in crowds to their art show. Your Challenge: For the past five years, the art show has been typically boring, with few people from the community attending. This year, it is up to you to make this event spectacular and different. The Students You Will Be Working Closely With Are: - Cathy is a quiet and sensitive student who loves art, but is severely lacking in social skills. Your job is to help her not only create, but relate. - Wilfredo is a fun-loving boy, who doesn't care much for schoolwork, and would rather be flirting with the girls than doing his work. Can he be motivated? - Jim is a nice boy, but not exceptionally bright. He is usually left in the background. This time, you are going to help make him shine. Your Assignment: - Select the theme of the art show. - How will you make the art show different and spectacular this year? - How will you teach the students to make money and get publicity for their event? - How will you attract residents from the community to come and perhaps buy the art? - How will you help the students you have been assigned to work closely with? What will be their role in the art show? Post Your Lesson Plan and Strategy for Helping These Students Here. Winners will be announced this month.
